Kindergarten and first graders experimented with the primary colors, red, yellow, and blue. They used these colors to paint an entire sheet with color today. Students discovered how to make the secondary colors, orange, green, and purple! For our next art class, we will do a drawing on top of these abstract paintings. I was so proud of these students for washing their brushes between colors and keeping the tempera cakes clean! What an amazing group of students!
For their next class, kindergarten and first grade students used their observational skills to draw flowers and leaves. They used these beautiful paintings as backgrounds for their drawings. After looking closely at the flowers on the table, and slowly drawing what they saw, students used their imaginations to add embellishments such as grass, dogs, cats, etc. These will be on display for our art show, so stay tuned!

We are so proud of our clay ornaments! |
Kindergarten and first grade made some wonderful textured clay ornaments! We used texture sheets and even the soles of our shoes to press interesting textures into the clay, experimenting until we got one we liked. The pieces were fired in a kiln and then we used oil pastels to add color. Finally, we dipped them into a bath of either glitter or black paint! Mrs. Nichols sprayed them with a gloss spray so they would be nice and shiny. Beautiful!
