RULES

Ephesians 6:1-3
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother - this is the first commandment with a promise, so that it will go well with you and you will enjoy long life on the earth. 

Rules and boundaries are set up in order to protect every child's safety and right to learn. Things will go well with them if they stay within those boundaries! Teachers are "in loco parentis" under the law, which means "in the place of parents." We are responsible for childrens' safety and a positive, productive learning environment while they are at school. I love God's promise to children, that if they honor their father and mother (and teachers!) it will go well with them!


Below are listed the three art classroom rules and consequences for disobedience:
1. Be respectful.
2. Be responsible.
3. Be safe. 


ART CLASSROOM RULES:

1.      BE RESPECTFUL
  • Obey the first time without arguing or talking back.
  • Speak at appropriate times and do not cause distractions.
  • Raise your hand and wait to be called upon to speak – do not interrupt the teacher.
  • Be positive, courteous, and polite – choose to use kind words.
  • Treat others the way you want to be treated


2.      BE RESPONSIBLE
  • Take care of the art materials and equipment – use materials appropriately!
  • Stay on task; do not wander around the room, talking or playing instead of working.
  • Keep the art room clean


3.      BE SAFE
  • Use materials appropriately – follow directions!
  • Keep hands, feet, and all objects to yourself – no horseplay.
  • Move around the room carefully – be mindful of others and their work.
  • Do not eat, drink, or chew gum in the art classroom.

CONSEQUENCES FOR UPPER SCHOOL:
1st offense: warning
2nd offense: relocation and/or discipline essay
3rd offense: parent contact and/or discipline essay
4th offense: office referral

CONSEQUENCES FOR LOWER SCHOOL:
1st time a rule is broken: warning
2nd time a rule is broken: time-out and/or loss of a Dojo point and/or discipline writing assignment
3rd time a rule is broken: call parents and/or loss of a Dojo Point and/or discipline writing assignment
4th time a rule is broken: office referral
