What a privilege it was to share this night of celebrating the achievements of our band, choir, and art students! We have such a talented group of hard-working kids and we couldn't be more proud of their creativity and commitment to excellence.

PERFORMANCE PAINTING!
The final song performed by our wonderful band and choir lasted for approximately 2 minutes and 20 seconds, and that is how long it took ABC to complete a fabulous painting inspired by "Let There Be Peace!" She was undaunted when she accepted this challenge of doing a performance painting for Fine Arts Night - she chose the image, style, and colors and practiced until she got it right. I am so impressed! I knew I could trust ABC - her painting skills have increased exponentially this year; she has a natural artistic ability that she has chosen to improve through repeated practice! She really wowed the audience tonight with her skill and handling of the medium. When she turned the painting around to reveal the image, what a surprise! Below is a video of her performance.

ART SHOW!
The Art Show was a success - we have an amazing group of kids this year! In case you missed it, here is a video tour of the paintings, drawings, prints, mixed media pieces, and sculptures by our K5-8th grade artists! (A few of the ceramics are not featured; we moved them back to the classroom for glazing. See below for updated photos of the finished glaze-ware!)

The song, "Let There Be Peace," a collaborative effort among the fine art genres, came at the end of a series of wonderful songs performed by the band and choir. What an awesome night!
"Let There Be Peace," byJill Jackson and Sy Miller
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be
With God as our Father
Neighbors all are we
Let us walk with each other
In perfect harmony
Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now
With every step I take
Let this be my solemn vow
To take each moment
And live each moment in
Peace eternally
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me
And let it begin with me
Our Silent Auction raised $190 for Heritage Christian Academy! If you had the highest bid for one of these pots, they will be glaze-fired and available for pick-up next Friday, May 17th.
Here are our fundraiser pieces after glaze firing! They turned out absolutely beautiful. See below for a video of the pieces: |
